Blog 2 - Summer Mentorship

This is the restaurant I mentor at: Mi Lindo Apatzingan

1. List the contact name, phone number, and organization of the person with whom you volunteered.

Mi Lindo Apatzingan
1(951)688-0908
Main mentor: Virginia Bernal (909)446-2641
 Sub mentor: Rodrigo Torres (909)545-3216

2. What qualified this person as an expert in your topic choice?

Mr. Torres has owned this restaurant for over 6 years, but has been in the restaurant business for over 10 years.  With the help of Ms. Bernal as the manager they have successfully had a good economic stand and are planning to expand business to new means.

3. List three questions for further exploration now that you've completed your summer hours.

1. What is the best way to keep customer satisfaction?
2. What qualifications have to be met to start a successful business?
3. What is the best way to create a sense of companionship with the staff?

4. What is the most important thing you gained from this experience? Why?

The most important thing I learned from my senior project experience is knowing how to communicate and come to a conclusion with people. Helping schedule restaurant meetings made me realize not everyone has the same schedules and therefor creating plans for the staff was difficult, but with communication you learn how to meet in the middle and work around plans.

5. What is your senior project topic going to be? How did mentorship help you make your decision?

I have chosen my senior topic to be Restaurant Business Management. My mentorship helped me make my decision because owning a restaurant business is all about having that family feeling and that caught my attention because everyone was very welcoming.
